Independant Pros Update: Trio of former Crusaders keep Busy

IRVING, Texas – A trio of former University of Dallas baseball players continued their playing careers with spots in various Independent Ball leagues. This end of summer update includes two pitchers: Michael Schweiss (’12), Martin Cronin (’15) and infielder Luciano Villanueva (’16).
Upgrades Completed for Baseball Cages

IRVING, Texas - The University of Dallas baseball team received remodeling to the batting cages located beyond the right field wall this summer. It was a project made possible by donations and support of the program's booster club.
Baseball Assistant Coach Nolen Resigns

IRVING, Texas – Brandon Nolen an assistant coach for the University of Dallas baseball team announced his resignation on Tuesday. His final day will be on Friday, July 29. An immediate national search is underway.
Abalos and Scioli Represent Crusaders in Carolina Shore Collegiate Baseball League

MYRTLE BEACH, Texas – Two members of the University of Dallas baseball team kept busy this summer and participated in the Carolina Shore Collegiate Baseball League (CSCBL). Josh Abalos (Lewisville, Texas) and Paul Scioli (Lubbock, Texas) represented the Crusaders on the Myrtle Beach Hammerheads Roster.
Former UD Baseball Player Schweiss selected to Frontier League All-Star Game

NORMAL, Ill. – Former University of Dallas baseball standout, Mike Schweiss, was one of six players from the Normal Cornbelters to be selected in next week’s 2016 Frontier League All-Star Game. The contest is scheduled for Wednesday, July 13 at UC Health Stadium in Florence, Kentucky.

IRVING, Texas – Two former members of the University of Dallas baseball team have continued their playing careers this summer. Luciano Villanueva (’16) signed with the Utica Unicorns, while Michael Schweiss (’12) continued his deal with the Normal Cornbelters for a fourth season.

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - The Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) today announced its eighth annual spring All-Sportsmanship teams. A total of 49 student-athletes were selected to the 2015-16 squad in the sports of baseball, men's golf, women's golf, softball, men's tennis, women's tennis, men's track & field and women's track & field.

IRVING, Texas – The University of Dallas Athletics Department celebrated the third annual athletic banquet on Sunday at the Haggar University Center on campus. Each coach for the 14 NCAA affiliated programs took a few minutes to reflect on the teams’ year. The Most Valuable Players (MVPs) were announced, which are voted by the athletes on each team once a season ends. Other notable honors were handed out and/or announced.

IRVING, Texas – The University of Dallas baseball team entered the three-game series requiring a sweep to qualify for the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) next weekend. Dallas battled No. 18 Centenary College in both games, winning in extra innings 7-6. Another one-run contest occurred in the second contest, with the Crusaders being nipped 4-3.
