Abalos and Scioli Represent Crusaders in Carolina Shore Collegiate Baseball League

MYRTLE BEACH, Texas – Two members of the University of Dallas baseball team kept busy this summer and participated in the Carolina Shore Collegiate Baseball League (CSCBL). Josh Abalos (Lewisville, Texas) and Paul Scioli (Lubbock, Texas) represented the Crusaders on the Myrtle Beach Hammerheads Roster. The pair of rising sophomores enrolled in their first summer ball league since debuting at the collegiate level last spring. Abalos, who cracked the 2016 CSCBL All-Star Roster, is listed as an infielder and Scioli is down as a catcher.

Abalos made 35 appearances (34 starts) out of the 40 opportunities that UD took the diamond. The second baseman ranked third on the squad in hits (36) and batting average (.286). The lead-off hitter ranked second in stolen bases and was the second player to swipe double-digits in that category with 11.

Scioli posted a .224 average with 11 hits in 20 games (15 starts). The catcher/outfielder tallied two doubles and triples with 17 RBI. He had a base knock in eight contests – including three multi-hit games. Scioli's first start resulted in a 2-for-4 performance, with a triple, two runs scored, and three RBI at Sul Ross State University.
