Crusaders Show Out at Old Glory Gallop

DALLAS, Texas - The University of Dallas men's cross country team competed in the Dallas Baptist Old Glory Gallop on Saturday.  The Crusaders finished in 14th place in the large field of 15 schools, many of which were NCAA Division II, NAIA, and NJCAA Division I teams.  They finished with 460 points, 13 points ahead of Mary Hardin-Baylor and 94 points behind 13th place Southwestern Assemblies of God.  Missouri Southern took the overall title with 36 points.

It was an excellent showing from the Crusaders, who look to be peaking right at the end of the regular season.  Three Crusaders set PR's in today's race: Paul Simko (31:18.0), captain Caleb Clayton (31:34.0), and Andrew Kamp (37:27.4).

Nico Walz lead the pack for Dallas, coming in 118th in the field of over 150 runners with a time of 29:51.8.  James Latour came in next with a time of 31:16.6 in 133rd.

"It was a great race today.  Our athletes really showed how much they are developing in training with PR's all over the place, including our captain Caleb," said head coach Nick Schneigert.  "Even without our number two, Tanish, everyone was competitive.  Now we head off to our conference meet where we will continue to build experience and talent.  The whole team has been positive and they are all having fun.

The Conference Championship is set to take place in two weeks time.  Southwestern will be the hosts this year, with the race scheduled for Saturday, October 29.
