Cross Country Prepares for the Old Glory Gallop

DALLAS, Texas - The University of Dallas men's and women's cross country programs are prepping for their final meet of the regular season: the Old Glory Gallop, hosted by Dallas Baptist University this Saturday, October 15.  The men are scheduled to run the 8k at 8:00 a.m., with the women running the 5k at 9:00 a.m.

The women will be without their captain, Maria Pecha, who has finished number one or two for the Crusaders in every event this season.  "It's unfortunate Maria won't be there, we will definitely lose out on some good points without her," said head coach Nick Schneigert.  "But she has an interview for grad school, and we are quite proud of our academics as a program.  I'm still expecting strong performances from the rest of team and it will be exciting to watch."

The Crusaders had three PR's last week at the Mustang Open; from Melissa Gabino on the women's side, and Nico Walz and Caleb Clayton on the men's side.  The course is mostly flat and fast, and could very well produce more PR's.

"We have a strategy in place and goals set for everyone on both teams," said Schneigert.  "I'm really interested to see how Nico does tomorrow; he's developed tremendously across his entire time here, but he's also made great strides just in this season.  Caleb getting a PR last week was awesome, and I wouldn't be surprised if het got another one tomorrow.  He is doing well, both teams are doing well, and tomorrow should be a good day for us."
