Men's Track and Field completes SCAC Championships Saturday

SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The University of Dallas women's track and field team completed the finals of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Championship on Saturday. Dallas took fifth place as a team while Trinity University prevailed with its third-straight title off of 269 points accumulated.

Leading Dallas individually was junior Ryan McAnany (Kansas City, Kan.) on the 1500 Meter with a score of 4:08.98 minutes. He equaled his personal record (PR) to rank third place on the event, and matched sophomore Kevin Doherty (Lenexa, Kan.) for the highest slot in the standings for the Navy and White in the league finals.

Sophomore Thomas Pierick (Des Moines, Iowa) notched a PR in Friday's 400 Meter prelims with a 54.62 and 4x400 race on Saturday where he posted a 52.67 for his leg.

Doherty notched third place on Friday in the first day of the championship, with a 10:21.31 school-record time on the 3000 Meter Steeplechase. The junior shaved a few seconds off his program-best that was set by himself at the same competition in 2014 his rookie campaign.

In the 5000 Meter, Doherty raced to a 16:43.20 time for fifth place, and McAnany added an eighth place display with a 17:02.07 to give UD a duo in the top 10.

These solid finals were added along with Friday' nice showing from junior Jack Grubner's (Needham, Mass.) of 38:31.75 minutes in the 10,000 Meter heat, and sophomore Paulo Salazar's (Dallas, Texas) 10.75 Meter for ninth in the Shot Put. Salazar added a PR in the Hammer Throw with a 23.10m toss.

Dallas has wrapped up the spring campaign for first-year Head Coach Matthew Barber.
