Men's Track and Field SCAC Championships Day One

SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The University of Dallas men's track and field team completed Day 1 of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Championships on Friday.

Highlighting the Crusaders with two top eight finishes on the Men's 3000 Meter Steeplechase were sophomore Kevin Doherty (Lenexa, Kan.) and junior Zach Zendt (Tacoma, Wash.). Taking one of two fourth places to match a team-high on the event were Doherty with a 10:21.31 score, and Zendt posted an 11:28.55 mark to get sixth.
Doherty for the second-straight season broke a school record in the 3000M Steeplechase at the league championship. 

Also claiming fourth in the 10,000 Meter Run was junior Jack Grubner (Needham, Mass.) with a time of 38:31.75.

Sophomore Thomas Pierick (Des Moines, Iowa) qualified for the event finals after snatching eighth with a 54.62 result in the 400 Meter Dash.

On the field, sophomore Paulo Salazar (Dallas, Texas) managed a 10.43 meter toss in the Preliminaries on the Shot Put. He improved in the finals to 10.75 m to finish ninth.

Day two of the SCAC Championships is Saturday.
