Wilgenbusch Takes Second at SCAC Championship

SAN ANTONIO, Texas - The University of Dallas women's cross country team wrapped up their season with the running of the SCAC Conference Championship this morning.  The Crusaders took fifth place with a final score of 127 points.

Anna Wilgenbusch made her return after sitting out the Crusaders' previous meet and nearly took home the ultimate prize.  She finished in second place 27 seconds off the winner, Elliot Singer from Colorado College, with a final time of 22:45.849.  Alyssa Harris and Grace Ebberwein finished one right after the other in 25th and 26th, respectively.   Harris finished with a final time of 26:38.157, and Eberwein with a time of 27:03.288.  As a team, the Crusaders finished 47 points ahead of sixth place Schreiner and 18 points behind fourth place Texas Lutheran.

"Anna has had to overcome a lot this year, I'm really proud of her results today and what she has done this season," said head coach Nick Schneigert.  "The course today was much tougher than our last meet, so I wasn't expecting any PR's, but I'm really proud of the fact that everyone was competitive today.  We have a really young team and some good recruits coming in; with most of the team running track and field, they will continue to develop, so I am really excited about the future of the rogram."
