UD Start Season at Orville Rogers Opener

Grand Prairie, TX - The University of Dallas women's cross country team started the season competing at the DBU Orville Rogers Cross Country Opener.  The Crusaders were one of only two non-DII teams at meet with the other being UNT-Dallas who are NAIA.

Anna Wilgenbusch led UD with a time of 19:06.2 in her first run since she placed as an NCAA All-American back in November of 2019.  Wilgenbusch's performance was good for 8th on the day, which ends her regular season winning streak at six meets and is her lowest regular season result since she finished 17th at the Saints Invitational in September of 2018.

Newcomer Alyssa Harris led UD's trio of freshman with a time of 21:24.4  Agnes Hernandez finished with a time of 23:10.3, and Keila Juarez rounded out the triplet with a time of 26:14.9.

Grace Ebberwein ran on new 5k PR on Saturday with a time of 22:46.6.  Maria Pecha also added a PR with a new best time of 23:59.5.

Isabella Childs also competed for Dallas running a time of 24:03.2.

UD Head Coach Nick Schneigert commented the following about the meet, "This was the first meet in two years for Anna. We both agreed to keep it at a conservative pace due to the heat and some other things going on. Also, with a very young team, I wanted to have them run a conservative pace as well with the heat... I am very impressed with what they did though especially against an all NCAA Division II/NAIA field. They did a great job and I am excited to see how they do in the coming months."

Dallas will be back in action next Saturday, September 11 as they will host the University of Dallas Invitational in Irving.
