Crusaders Women's Cross Country Raced in SCAC Championship on Saturday

IRVING, Texas - The University of Dallas women's cross country team competed in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Championship on Saturday hosted this year in Irving at UD. Dallas finished sixth out of the six eligible teams with 141 points. Austin College and Centenary College of Louisiana had athletes compete in the race, but were not eligible for team scores due to having an insufficient number of runners.

Dallas had five runners compete in the race. The quintet of Crusaders were Emma Kate Callahan (Overpark, Kan.), Grace Ebberwein (Wichita, Kan.), Megan Scott (Hudson, Mass.), Isabella Saad (Spartanburg, SC), and Isabella Childs (St. Mary's, Kan.). Callahan ran a 6k PR of 24:04.1 in her last collegiate race, and was also ranked 10th fastest in the UD record books. Her 16th place finish put her just outside winning All-SCAC honors.

The other four UD runners scored in respective places 23rd, 31st, 35th, 36th. The SCAC Championship was the first career race for Ebberwein, Scott, and Saad.

The top three teams were Trinity University, Colorado College, and University of St. Thomas. Austin finished in 3rd with 106 points, Colorado in 2nd with 30 points, and Trinity were the SCAC Champions with 25 points.

Trinity swept the top three positions. Abby Blackwood and Ellie Carton finished 2nd and 3rd, respectively, and the SCAC Medalist was Jordan Juran with her 1st place time of 21.48.1.
