Isabella Childs Named UD Scholar-Athlete of the Year

IRVING, Texas – On Wednesday University of Dallas Athletics Director Dick Strockbine announced Isabella Childs as the UD Scholar-Athlete of the Year selection. This award is the only department wide award offered in athletics and goes to the varsity letterwinner with the highest grad point average.

Normally the award is presented by Faculty Athletics Representative, Dr. Jodziewicz, at our end of the year awards evening which unfortunately had to be cancelled this year. Consequently it will be awarded to Childs at our Athletics Hall of Fame luncheon in November.

Childs is a sophomore from Saint Mary's, Kansas, that lettered her first two seasons with the women's cross country team. She earned a spot on the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) National All-Academic Team in 2019. Childs was also a two-time recipient on the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Fall Student-Athlete Academic Honor Roll. Childs is majoring in english with a concentration in music.

Childs becomes the 21st different winner since the award's inception in 1984 to Greg Roper. This is the sixth year that a UD women's cross country runner has been selected the honor. Childs is the fourth different student-athlete from the program to win the award.
