Women's Cross Country Among Trio of SCAC Teams to Earn USTFCCCA All-Academic Honors

NEW ORLEANS, La. – The University of Dallas men's and women's cross country teams earned spots on the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Association (USTFCCCA) Division III All-Academic Teams. This is the second time within the past three years (2014) that Dallas had both cross country teams named with the award.

The Dallas men posted a team GPA of 3.53 to lead a quartet of Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) teams. Other programs from the conference to garner honors were Colorado College (3.314), Texas Lutheran University (3.29), and Trinity University (3.11).

In total, 290 men nabbed All-Academic honors. To earn this distinction, the student-athletes must hold a GPA of 3.30 or higher and finish in the top 25 percent at their respective regional.

On the women's side, Dallas was among three SCAC schools to achieve this distinction. Colorado College totaled a 3.49 team GPA to lead the group. Trinity produced a 3.46 and the Crusaders rounded out the teams with a 3.37.

Some individuals for the UD women included Angela Moore (Austin, Texas) and Bridgett Kennedy (San Antonio, Texas). Both claimed spots on 2016 United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) National All-Academic Team. To qualify, student-athletes must maintain a cumulative 3.5 GPA or higher.

A total of 216 women's teams met the 3.30 GPA or higher requirement.

Both teams for Dallas are coached by Matt Barber, who completed his third season at the helm.
