Moore takes 9th; Women's Cross Country 4th Overall in Home Meet

IRVING, Texas – The University of Dallas women's cross country team enjoyed a Saturday morning race on its home terrain and secured 4th place as a team with 100 points in the University of Dallas Invitational. The Crusaders averaged a time of 21:27.57 minutes with four runners breaking top 23 among 78 competitors in the 5K.

Texas Wesleyan University would prevail in the team award with 51 points, and just slightly edged University of Texas at Dallas by two. McMurry University rounded out the top three spots with 86 points.

Dallas edged fellow Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) foes Austin College (143) and Schreiner University (251). The 'Roos claimed fifth place while Schreiner was ninth.

UT-Dallas placed the top two finishers and three of the first five points with Lindsey Rayborn (19:17.7 and Hollis Ratliff (19:26.5) leading the pack. East Texas Baptist University's Taylor Shelby (19:48.3) just claimed the third place spot by nearly a whole second sooner.

NOTABLE RESULTS

- Angela Moore (Austin, Texas) boasted the Crusaders best individual time with a personal record (PR) of her own. The 20:12.6 was fast enough to give Moore a ninth place medal and was the junior's second 5K this season to break top ten since fourth in the Texas Lutheran Bulldog Invitational.

- Bridget Kennedy (San Antonio, Texas) followed in 14th with a time of 21:04.4 and scored 13 points toward the team score.

- Joey Danaher (Boulder, Colo.) and Emily Cosgray (Simonton, Texas) each set PR's for the second straight weekend in the same distance. Danaher's 21:17.1 time slotted her in 19th to give UD three runners above the first 20 finishes. Cosgray hit a 21:24.8 and the first-year cross country runner took 23rd.

- Karmina Martinez (Friendswood, Texas) also broke a PR with a time of 23:19.5 minutes.

Dallas is off next weekend before getting ready to compete in the SCAC Championships hosted by Southwestern University on October 29 in Round Rock, Texas.
