Kennedy Highlight's Women's Cross Country in 3rd Place Finish on Saturday

MARSHALL, Texas – The University of Dallas women's cross country team claimed third place out of seven teams in the Division III rankings on Saturday at the Texas Division III Championship hosted by East Texas Baptist University (ETBU). Dallas etched 68 points to finish behind The University of Texas at Dallas (47) and the overall winner, University of Texas at Tyler (34).

Headlining the Lady Crusaders was freshman Bridget Kennedy (San Antonio, Texas) with a 24:05.72 minute time to clinch third place out of 88 runners. She did slot into second place in the Division III rankings only. It was a personal record (PR) for Kennedy as she performed in the first 6k of her career and first for UD this fall. Kennedy has hit individual team-highs in the past three competitions, and was also 10 seconds shy of tying the school record.

Both seniors on the squad were next to complete the top three finishes for the Navy and White. Ruth Fritz (Boise, Idaho) notched 12th overall and displayed a time of 25:15.66 minutes. Emma Polefko (Cypress, Texas) shaved a minute off her previous 6k PR, by running with a 26:07.81.

Freshman Caroline Schemel (Greencastle, Pa.) was not far behind and logged a time of 26:14.67 minutes.

Junior Joey Danaher (Boulder, Colo.), freshman Priscila Saldivar (Mexico City, Mexico), Kennedy, and Schemel all participated in their first career 6ks this previous weekend.
