Dallas Downed by TLU and St. Thomas

GEORGETOWN, Texas - The University of Dallas women's volleyball team lost their conference matches with Texas Lutheran and St. Thomas on Saturday.  They lost to the Bulldogs 3-1 and the Celts 3-0 to fall to 6-10 on the year and 0-5 in conference play.

The Bulldogs got off to a red hot start, taking set one by a comfortable 25-10 margin, but the Crusaders bounced back in set two.  They came from behind and took a late lead while notching 18 kills, their most in a single set all season, to take set two 25-23.

Dallas managed to keep themselves within striking distance in sets three and four, but couldn't close the gap in either set after falling behind.  TLU took both sets 25-16 to win the match in four sets.

Cassie Dyoub was second amongst all players with a team leading 13 kills, and Emma Parsons led the team with 15 assists.  Dyoub also co-led the team with 14 digs, sharing the lead with Devin Henry.

The Crusaders came out ready to play against St. Thomas, taking an early lead and holding it deep into the first set.  But the Celts tied it up late and snatched the set away from Dallas at the last breath, winning set one 25-23.

The Celts and Crusaders matched each other blow for blow for nearly the entire second set, but St. Thomas hit a five-point run midway through to dive themselves some daylight.  Despite hitting a 5-1 run themselves late in the set, Dallas couldn't close the gap any further as the Celts rattled off four straight points to take set two 25-17.

Set three was much the same story, with the two sides looking very much even, but St. Thomas doing just a little bit better at stringing points together.  They would take set three 25-16 and the match in straight sets.

Dyoub notched 10 kills in the game, bringing her daily total to 23.  She also led the team in digs with 9, with Emma Parsons leading the team with 11 assists.
