Crusaders Take Down LETU in Five

IRVING, Texas - The University of Dallas women's volleyball team won their non-conference matchup with LeTourneau University 3-2 on Tuesday.  They improve to 6-5 on the year.

The first set established the tone for the entire match as you could hardly separate the two sides.  They needed extras to decide it, with Dallas finally winning the marathon of a set by a score of 32-30

The Yellow Jackets came out strong in set two, jumping out to a 9-2 lead and maintaining a six-point lead deep into the set.  But UD came roaring back, outscoring LETU 15-4 late in the set to win 25-23

Set three was just as tight, with the Crusaders clinging to a narrow advantage deep into the set, leading 22-21 after leading by as many as four points.  They could have sealed the match then and there, but the set slipped away from them as LETU rattled off four straight points to come back and force a fourth set.

The momentum was clearly with the Yellow Jackets in set four.  They cruised through most of the set, leading by as many as 11 points, but Dallas made it interesting with a 7-1 run late in the set to make it a 24-19 game.  But LETU staved off the late rally and took the set 25-19, forcing set five.

The two sides traded the lead a handful of times, and it truly looked like it was anyone's game at 9-9, neither team able to inch ahead.  But Dallas finally found the edge they needed, going on a 6-2 run and capping off the game with three straight points to take the match in five.

Cassie Dyoub led the Crusaders with 19 kills, her second highest tally of the season, with 12 dids on top of that.  Isabel McKamey and Abby Medico each posted season highs with 11 kills apiece, Medico hitting a stellar .478 on the night.  Emma Parsons and Larissa Ramirez also posted season highs tonight, with 19 and 28 assists, respectively.  Chloe Ilagan led the Crusaders with 20 digs, a season high for her as well.
