Dallas Falls to ETBU in Five

IRVING, Texas - The University of Dallas women's volleyball team lost their non-conference matchup with East Texas Baptist 3-2 on Tuesday.  They fall to 4-4 on the year.

The match was back and forth nearly from start to finish and could have easily gone either way.  The Crusaders came out swinging in set one, jumpoing out to an early 6-1 lead and forcing the undefeated Tigers to take the first timeout.  But the Tigers clawed their way back and then some, going on a 10-3 run to take a lead they would never relinquish, winning set one 25-18.

Set two was a nail biter with the two sides neck and neck all the way to the end, with Dallas just pulling away at the end.  Sets three and four saw them trade the momentum.  ETBU pulled away with relative ease in set three, seemingly poised to cruise through set four, only for Dallas to come right back and do the same thing to them in set four.

The Tigers took firm control after that, jumping out to an 8-3 lead, then cruising to a 15-6 win in set five to seal the deal.

Cassie Dyoub posted a season-high 20 kills, while notching seven digs and two block-assists along the way.  Devin Henry led all players with 20 digs, her second highest total of the season, and Layo Akinyede led all players with a season-high six block assists.
