Volleyball Sweeps Belhaven, Splits Double-Header

IRVING, Texas - The University of Dallas women's volleyball team split their non-conference double-header on Saturday.  They swept Belhaven 3-0, and were defeated by Pacific College 3-0, now sitting at 3-1 on the year.

The Crusaders were firmly in the driver's seat against Belhaven.  They held the Blazers to under 10 kills in each set, while reacking up 39 kills and hitting .180 as a team.  Cassie Dyoub led the team in kills for the third straight match, notching 12 points on 11 kills with a .233 hitting percentage.  Abby Medico was right behind with 9 kills, hitting .238, and Isabel McKamey hit .417 with six kills and three block assists.

Devin Henry is already establishing herself as the rock in the back, leading the team once again with 12 digs  Larissa Ramirez and Emma Parsons combined for 27 assists, Ramirez having the lion's share with 17.

Things were much tougher for the Crusaders against Pacific.  Though the two sides fought to a stalemate for nearly three quarters of the first set, an eaerly 8-1 deficit would prove to be too much to overcome as the Boxers took the opening set.

It was more of the same in set two, as Pacific jumped out to an early 7-1 lead.  Dallas was still trailing by six late in the set, but the Boxers surged for five straight points to win set two.  Though set three was much closer than the previous two in the early goings, the Boxers steadily pulled away.  Thought well within striking distance at one point at 11-7, the Crusaders would never score more than one point at a time after that as Pacific continued to string points together.  Pacific took set three 25-13 to complete the sweep.

Ramirez made it four straight matches with 10 or more assists, and Devin Henry did the same with digs, leading all players with 14.
