Crusaders Drop Two On the Road, Take St. Thomas to Five Sets

SHERMAN, Texas. - The University of Dallas women's volleyball team dropped a pair of conference games with Colorado College and St. Thomas.  They fell in straight sets to #5 ranked Colorado College, then dropped a five set thriller with St. Thomas.

The Tigers had a firm grasp on the game from start to finish, though the Crusaders made it interesting in set one.  After falling behind early, UD came all the way back to tie it up deep in the set at 17-17, though the Tigers were able to see out the 25-20 set win.  The Crusaders were at their best in the opening set, hitting .194 with 11 kills, as Colorado went on to win sets two and three by comfrotable margins.

Abby Medico led the Crusaders with six kills, while Larissa Ramirez led with 10 assists and eight digs.

The matchup with St. Thomas was a back and forth game that could have gone either way from the get go.  The Crusaders fought and scraped their way to wins in sets one and three, dtaving off late comeback attempts and winning each set by just two points.  The Celts were able to take sets two and four, however, forcing a decisive fifth set.  The Crusaders nabbed the first point, but that would be their only lead of the set as they were left chasing St. Thomas the rest of the way.  The Celts took the final set 15-11 to win the match.

Dayjah Whyte had a massive game, notching 17 kills on just three errors for a .350 hitting percentage while also tallying a solo block and three block assists.  She led all players with 19.5 points.  Larissa Ramirez racked up 38 assists and 12 digs, while Ellise Anable led the team with 27 digs.
