Crusaders Split on Day One of SCAC Divisional Volleyball Tournament

SHREVEPORT, La. - The SCAC Divisional Volleyball Tournament hosted by Centenary College began on Friday, with the Crusaders facing off against Southwestern and Schreiner University.  They split the day, falling to Southwester 3-1, and defeating Schreiner 3-1.

Dallas 1-3 Southwestern (16-25, 26-24, 9-25, 14-25)

The Crusaders were going strong through the first two sets, tallying 25 kills to Southwestern's 24.  Though the Crusaders dropped set one by nine points, they came back and won a hard fought battle to take set two 26-24.  But it would be all Pirates the rest of the way, as Southwestern went on to dominate sets three and four to take the match 3-1.

Dayjah White had a monster game, putting up 16 kills while hitting .428 and notching two block assists to lead all players with 17 points for the game.  She was the only Crusader to crack double-digit kills.  Four hit double-digits in digs: Cassie Dyoub (12), Chloe Ilagan (14), Larissa Ramirez (16), and Ellise Anable led the way with 19.  Larissa Ramirez recorded 18 assists in the match.

Dallas 3-1 Schreiner (25-22, 25-22, 17-25, 25-17)

Once again, the Crusaders were at their best through the first two sets, amassing 34 kills through sets one and two.  They peaked in set two with one of their best sets of the season, racking up 19 kills on just four errors, hitting .341 as a team.  The Mountaineers were right there with them, but the Crusaders had the edge to take two close sets.

The Mountaineers ramped up their blocking game for set three, taking the set by a comfortable eight-point margin as they controlled things at the net.  But the crusaders bounced right back in set four to see out the match with 25-17 set win.

Dayjah White had another sparkling game, racking up 14 kills while hitting .367, leading all players with 14 points.  Ellise Anable was the rock in the back, amassing 27 digs, and Larissa Ramirez tallied 29 assists.
