UD Volleyball Takes on #1 Colorado College in Opening Round of SCAC Tournament

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The University of Dallas volleyball team plays its Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Quarterfinals round at No. 1 Colorado College this Saturday at 6 p.m. (MST), 7 p.m. (CST). The Crusaders earned the eighth seed based on a tiebreaker with Centenary College in the regular season. Colorado College took the top seed as it continues its quest for an unbeaten season.

The SCAC Quarterfinal rounds are being held at the schools with the top four seeds and taken place on April 16-17. The top remaining seeds will host the semifinals (Apr. 23-25) and championship rounds (Apr. 30-May 2). No spectators will be permitted at any of the tournament games. (SCAC Fan Policy Update)

Information on Teams

- Dallas (3-11, 3-11 SCAC) has dropped its last three games, including a doubleheader sweep at Texas Lutheran University last Saturday.

- The Crusaders are led by Dayjah Whyte (Round Rock, Texas) and Abigail Porras (El Paso, Texas) in kills with 123 and 105, respectively. Whyte is also tops on the squad with 28 blocks.

- A pair of freshmen to watch are Faith Daniels (San Antonio, Texas) and Cassie Dyoub (Frisco, Texas) with 50 kills apiece. Daniels is second on the team with 20 blocks.

- Other players to watch offensively includes Isabel Garcia (San Antonio, Texas), who is third on the team this season with 58 kills.

- Larissa Ramirez (San Antonio, Texas) is the top setter with 288 assists.

- Moriah Delgado (Fort Worth, Texas) has been the libero with a team-leading 206 digs. Ellise Anable (Phoenix, Ariz.) has recorded 163 digs and added 45 kills.

- A quartet of Crusaders have served nine aces, which features Anable, Delgado, Porras, and Whyte.

About the Tigers

- Colorado College earned the top seed after completing the regular season at 14-0 and hold the top ranking in the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA), and have since March 10.

- The Tigers have gone 6-0 at the Reid Arena, which will be the site of Saturday's quarterfinal match.

- CC has won 26 straight sets and 42-of-44 sets this season.

- Georgia Mullins leads the conference with a .394 hitting percentage, ranks second averaging 1.04 blocks, and third at 3.17 kills per set.

- Isabelle Aragone-Menzel is atop the league averaging 8.96 assists per game and guided the Tigers to a conference leading .269 hitting percentage.

- Other players to watch are Isabella Lipacis averaging 3.15 kills and Isabelle Vasquez has contributed a 2.87-clip.

- Allie Freeburg is averaging 0.40 aces for second in the SCAC and has contributed 2.42 kills.

- These teams met on February 27 at the Maher Center, where the Tigers won match 1 (25-18, 25-13, 25-15) and match 2 (25-14, 25-20, 25-16).

The winner of the match advances to face the winner of No. 4 Austin College and No. 5 University of St. Thomas. Colorado College would host either team if it wins, but if Dallas wins then the winner of that matchup will host.
