KEENE, Texas – The University of Dallas volleyball team played three dominate sets at Southwestern Adventist University on Tuesday evening leading to a sweep and improving 5-7 overall. The Crusaders outdid their opposition in kills 40-12 and eclipsed double-digits in service aces for the second time this season with 10. Dallas easily led in each set by double figures with finals being 25-12, 25-11, and 25-9.

The opening frame saw the Crusaders leap out in front with the first six points. Mary Scholz (Fallon, Nev.) earned the first point of the match with a kill and after two SWAU miscues, the senior put down consecutive aces. The Knights countered by cutting the margin in half, but UD utilized another six straight points to increase the edge. Dallas reached a double-digit difference at 19-9 and eventually secured the early lead.

Mary Goodykoontz (Chandler, Ariz.) started the middle set and for the second time on the night, Dallas sprang ahead with the first six points. Goodykoontz aced the first point for her first on the campaign. She later finished the match with a personal-best 20 assists.

Southwestern Adventist challenged back immediately cutting the gap to one point with the next five scores. After trading points and leading 8-7, the Crusaders responded with an 11-0 run. The advantage ballooned to as high as 23-8.

UD only trailed once on the night and that was the first point on an ace by Camille Fraser in the third set. Emily Pauletti (Dallas, Texas) chimed back in her collegiate debut with back-to-back kills and started an 8-0 stretch for Dallas that would lead on to a straight set sweep.

Rylee Davis (Lampasas, Texas) reached double figures in kills for the first time this season and led Dallas with 12 and hit a .611-clip. Theresa Schramm (Plymouth, Wis.) and Kennedy Bradley (Groesbeck, Texas) each contributed five kills. Diana Hassink (Tulsa, Okla.) posted 23 digs.

Eboni Smith paced the Knights offense with seven kills.
