Koster Awarded Scholarship from NCAA

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.Jessie Koster (Sherwood, Ore.) was granted a $7,500 scholarship for part-time or full-time postgraduate study at a university or professional school from the NCAA. Koster is majoring in Biology and applying for Dentistry Programs after her anticipated graduation later this May. The senior has garnered success both inside the classroom and on the volleyball court as a four-year letter winner for the University of Dallas volleyball team.

A complete listing of the award recipients will be released at www.ncaa.org.

This past fall, Koster become the first member of the program to be a College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) All-American 1st Team winner and American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) West All-Region honoree. For the 2nd straight season, the student-athlete boasted her academic performance of a GPA north of 3.5 with a spot on the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) National All-Academic Team. Koster also was a USCAA All-American for back-to-back years. Finally, she completed her accolades as Backrow Player of the Year and all-conference 2nd Team for the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC).

On the court, this was the 2nd year in a row Koster led NCAA Division III in digs-per-set. Her 7.49 a game and 854 total digs (also tops nationally) both were program records. Koster finished her career as the all-time leader in digs (2,880) and digs average (6.26). She held the career average her final two campaigns. Finally, twice during this season the libero matched personal bests in digs (48). That mark also ranked 5th all-time in SCAC. Koster anchored the defense and her teammates recognized that by voting her Team MVP three-of-four seasons (2016, '15, and '13).
