Koster breaks SCAC Digs Career Record; Volleyball wraps up Season

SHREVEPORT, La. – The University of Dallas volleyball team (13-21) wrapped up the season on Saturday versus Texas Lutheran University (15-17) in the 5th/6th place Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) match. Dallas dropped three sets in a row.

Set Scores: (25-15, 25-18, 25-15)

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Crusaders raced out to a quick start in the opening set with the first three points. With Jessie Koster (Sherwood, Ore.) on the serve, her fellow senior classmate Mairin Guilfoyle (Roanoke, Va.) garnered two kills with Koster's ace in between. Texas Lutheran responded with a pair of points and then a 4-0 run after UD's three point stretch to nip the score back at 6-all.

A trio of ties as points exchanged made the score 9-9. The Bulldogs gained their first advantage of the frame and rattled off eight straight, counting the last game-tying point. That was all the momentum TLU required as a kill by Dallas' Kyndal Miller (Crockett, Texas) ended an 11-2 scoring stretch for the opposition.

Texas Lutheran never trailed in the second set. Up 7-5, the Bulldogs scored six points in a row as part of an 8-2 run. Kills by UD's Kennedy Bradley (Groesbeck, Texas) and Merit Paramo (Wasilla, Alaska) were the scores for the navy and white in that stretch. A 6-2 run by the Crusaders closed the set, but the deficit was too wide. It was the closest margin difference of the game.

In the third set, the Bulldogs etched 10-of-13 points to start en route to a set sweep.
