2015 Season in Review for Volleyball
The University of Dallas women's volleyball team posted an 11-23 record overall and was 4-10 in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) this fall. Dallas would finish sixth in the league and dropped both contests in the tournament hosted at Southwestern University. Junior Jessie Koster (Sherwood, Ore.) held the spotlight most of the season, as Dallas ranked in the top 10 throughout the season on defense, and was anchored by the libero setting personal and school records.
NOTABLE MOMENTS
- Koster would break the dig record in a single season, which was 736, on October 31 against University of Texas at Tyler. She was at 741 by the end of the night, and would set the new mark at 790. Her previous career-best was 648 in 2014.
- Nine of the Lady Crusaders' victories were set sweeps this season. UD opened with consecutive wins against Dallas Christian College and Rhodes College.
- Tallied first career win in program history versus Trinity University on its court during an SCAC Cross Divisional on September 27. After claiming the first two sets (25-22, 26-24), UD would go to a fifth round and prevail 16-14 to earn the feat.
- Junior Mairin Guilfoyle (Roanoke, Va.) led the squad with 327 kills and averaged 2.77 kills per set. The outside hitter delivered 15 double-digit kill performances. Senior Cat Dowgwillo (St. Louis, Mo.) managed a team-high 41 blocks.
- Freshmen Elizabeth Smith (Broken Arrow, Okla.) and Kaley Turner (Puyallup, Wash.) combined for 1,021 of the squad's 1,229 assists. Smith led the way with 683 and dished a career-high 41 twice this fall (September 12 vs. Hardin-Simmons University; Sept. 26 vs. Schreiner University).
