Volleyball falls Friday in SCAC Tournament to Texas Lutheran University
GEORGETOWN, Texas – The University of Dallas volleyball team (11-22) fell in straight sets: 11-25, 17-25, 18-25 on Friday versus Texas Lutheran University (18-7). Dallas will face Austin College, who fell earlier in the day, tomorrow at 11 a.m. in a consolidation match.
After falling behind 1-0, the Lady Crusaders broke out in the middle frame to its greatest lead of seven points (10-3), and would repeat the margin (11-4) before Texas Lutheran started chipping away. Dallas would see a 13-6 edge wiped away by 10 unanswered points from the Black and Gold. UD would be unable to rally back and fell 2-0 in the match at that time.
TLU would close the final set out to advance to the next match against host school, No. 16 Southwestern University.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- Junior Mairin Guilfoyle (Roanoke, Va.) led with eight kills, while sophomore Diana Hassink (Tulsa, Okla.) added five. Dallas posted a .031 kill percentage compared to .280 by TLU.
- Junior Jessie Koster (Sherwood, Okla.) increased her single season dig record to 765 with 23 more to pace the defense. She was the lone Lady Crusader to crack double-digits in that category.
- Freshman Elizabeth Smith (Broken Arrow, Ore.) made 11 assists. Senior Cat Dowgwillo (St. Louis, Mo.) had three of the team's six blocks.
- Texas Lutheran had two players reach double figures in kills with Kristin Fording hitting a game-high 14. She added a team-high 19 digs for a double-double. Brette Threadgill followed with 12.
- Kelcie Ingram and Kaci Fecht compiled 40 of the team's 42 assists, with 22 and 18, respectively. Anna Keeling posted three blocks, and TLU garnered eight as a squad.
