Birzer, Caples, and Broadbent earn Second Team All-SCAC Honors

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. – The league office released on Thursday the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) All-Conference Volleyball Teams. A trio of University of Dallas players were named to the 2014 All-SCAC Women's Volleyball Second Team.

Junior middle blocker Jaime Birzer (Ottawa, Kan. gathered a slight edge in voters with 36, and senior setter C.J. Broadbent (Goodyear, Ariz.) was right behind at 35. Receiving 33 votes was senior middle blocker Emily Caples (Walnut Creek, Calif.).

Caples has earned recognition on the all-conference second team three-straight years now. 

Birzer and Caples are top two offensively on the squad with 307 and 285 kills, respectively. Broadbent has been a factor on the defensive end, producing 303 digs to go along with an impressive 1100 assists to conclude her final year.

Dallas begins the SCAC Tournament this weekend on Friday hosted at Austin College. First tipoff is slated at 10:30 a.m.
