IRVING, Texas – The University of Dallas volleyball team (18-9, 6-4 SCAC) swept McMurry University (15-6) in a 3-0 win Tuesday night at the Maher Athletic Center. It is the second time this year the Lady Crusaders defeated McMurry, topping them on the road 3-1 on Sept. 16.

All three sets were competitive on both sides, but Dallas had enough to claim the trio of wins for a successful night. The team improved its record at home to 6-1 after the contest.

In the opening frame, each squad exchanged advantages throughout until being deadlocked at 18-18. The navy and white sparked five unanswered points to leap to a 23-18 edge and would tally the set win after consecutive attack errors by the Warhawks.

The Lady Crusaders would begin the next set with a 6-3 lead, but quickly saw the road team nip the deficit. Dallas trailed after that 12-10, but would again recover with a 5-0 run to go ahead. McMurry threatened with a late rally, closing within 23-22, but junior right side hitter Cat Dowgwillo (St. Louis, Mo.) put an attack away before a final error on the visitors sealed the closest round of the night.

Dallas led by as many as six in the final set, earning a sweep with a 25-18 decision to secure the match. The navy and white are three wins away from tying last year's overall win total.

It was a team effort in this one, as two players led the team offensively in kills with senior middle blocker Emily Caples (Walnut Creek, Calif.) and senior outside hitter Christine Jablonsky (Colorado Springs, Colo.) boasting eight each. Jablonsky notched season-highs with her kills and amount of digs totaling nine.

Right behind them was Dowgwillo with seven, and a pair of Lady Crusaders posted six kills, which were junior middle blocker Jaime Birzer (Ottawa, Kan.) and sophomore outside hitter Mairin Guilfoyle (Roanoke, Va.).

Senior setter C.J. Broadbent (Goodyear, Ariz.) added 28 assists and tied sophomore libero Jessie Koster (Sherwood, Ore.) with a team-leading 13 digs on the defensive end.
