MARSHALL, Texas – The University of Dallas volleyball team (13-8) claimed a 3-1 victory at Wiley College on Tuesday night. Dallas has won three-straight matches and 10 of the last 13.

The road squad clinched the opening set 25-21 and then followed with a 25-19 win to leap to a 2-0 advantage in the match.

Wiley did not go quietly in the third set, squeaking past the navy and white with a 25-22 result, before Dallas closed its ninth non-conference victory of the campaign, 25-14.

A trio of Lady Crusaders earned double-digit kills with senior middle-blocker Emily Caples (Walnut Creek, Calif.) and junior right side hitter Cat Dowgwillo (St. Louis, Mo.) clobbering 11 apiece. 

Freshman outside hitter Mary Scholz (Fallon, Nev.) contributed 10, rounding out the unit, while junior middle-blocker Jaime Birzer (Ottawa, Kan.) also turned in a solid night with eight.

On the defensive side, sophomore libero Jessie Koster (Sherwood, Ore.) garnered a game-high 35 digs.

Senior setter C.J. Broadbent (Goodyear, Ariz.) added 18 assists to pursue closer to 700 on the year with 693. 

After finishing second on the team posting 11 digs, she is 10 away from eclipsing the 200 mark on the season and currently ranks third behind sophomore defensive specialist Allison Seager (Dallas, Texas) and Koster.

Seager sits in second on the squad with 203 and Koster is pulling away boasting a team-best 338 while averaging 5.63 a contest.

Dallas returns to the Maher Athletic Center on Thursday, Oct. 2 in a 6 p.m. tilt versus Jarvis Christian College. The Lady Crusaders defeated JCC Sept. 24 in a 3-0 result.
