SHREVEPORT, La. - The University of Dallas volleyball team (12-8, 4-3 SCAC) claimed wins in two matches in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Divisional No. 2 on Sunday hosted at Centenary College of Louisiana.

After sweeping Schreiner University (1-16, 1-6 SCAC) in the early afternoon contest, Dallas would close out a 2-2 weekend split with a 3-1 series victory over Texas Lutheran University (13-6, 3-4 SCAC).

Match 3: Dallas defeats Schreiner, 3-0:

The Lady Crusaders topped Schreiner for their first win in the weekend slate, sweeping the opposition in three fairly competitive sets. The navy and white would post a 25-19 result in the opening set.

That was the closest round, as Dallas followed with 25-18, and 25-17 in the next matches, respectively.

Full stats for the contest will be available at a later time.

Match 4: Dallas defeats Texas Lutheran 3-1:

It was a nice day for Dallas, as they blasted past the Bulldogs to secure a pair of victories in the win column on Sunday. The Lady Crusaders have gone 9-3 in their most recent 12 game stretch.

After stumbling in the first set, 25-19, Dallas gained momentum with an enormous 25-23 decision in set two that helped propel the navy and white to 25-14, and 25-19 results in the ensuing rounds.

The exciting second frame was back-and-forth throughout the way, with Texas Lutheran leading most of the way, but by no more than two points at any portion. The Lady Crusaders finally got ahold of the lead for good off a kill from sophomore outside hitter Mairin Guilfoyle (Roanoke, Va.), to lift the squad to a 22-21 edge.

Guilfoyle connected on consecutive attacks to double the margin, but the Bulldogs would nip the advantage with back-to-back scores.

After a bad set from the opponent, junior middle blocker Jaime Birzer (Ottawa, Kan.) sealed the win on a kill that was one of senior setters C.J. Broadbent's (Goodyear, Ariz.) 29 assists overall.

Dallas never fell behind in the next two sets to round out the conference match.

Birzer was the lone Lady Crusader to crack double figures in kills with 11, while Guilfoyle contributed  nine. Junior rightside hitter Cat Dowgwillo (St. Louis, Mo.) and senior outside hitterChristine Jablonsky (Colorado Springs, Colo.) each added seven in the triumph.

Sophomore libero Jessie Koster (Sherwood, Ore.) had another solid day, collecting 26 digs for the navy and white.

Next Opponent:

Dallas continues its road trip with a match-up at Wiley College on Tuesday, Sept. 30 for a 6 p.m. tilt. The squads met earlier in the campaign at Irving, Texas, where the Lady Crusaders prevailed 3-0.
