IRVING, Texas – The University of Dallas volleyball team (5-5) remains undefeated at home in their 2014 campaign, following a 3-0 triumph over Howard Payne University (HPU) on Tuesday night at the Maher Athletic Center.

The navy and white prevailed 25-15, 25-19, and 25-17 over the Lady Yellow Jackets (0-5). The sweep gave head coach Emily Holombek's squad five wins in their last six matches.

After they were down 2-1 in the early stages of the match, Dallas led by as many as six (11-5) in the opening frame. HPU fought back to a 14-11 deficit, but the Lady Crusaders used an 11-4 run to take the first set.

Although HPU managed a 3-0 lead in set two, Dallas was no fazed. They navigated to a set-high seven-point (18-11) advantage, and thwarted a late attack by the Lady Yellow Jackets to go up 2-0 in the match.

The Lady Crusaders trailed 11-7 in the final set, before once again shifting momentum. Junior middle blocker Cat Dowgwillo (St. Louis, Mo.) provided the go-ahead kill. Dallas led the remainder of the contest and used a 12-5 run down the stretch to close-out things out.

Sophomore outside hitter Mairin Guilfoyle (Roanoke, Va.) garnered a match-high of 12 kills. Senior middle blocker Emily Caples (Walnut Creek, Cal.) had eight kills, while Dowgwillo added seven of her own.

C.J. Broadbent (Goodyear, Ariz.) tallied a match-high 33 assists. The senior setter has now eclipsed the 30-assist mark in seven-of-ten affairs this season.

Sophomore outside hitter Jessie Koster (Sherwood, Ore.) compiled a match-high 22 digs. Broadbent contributed a season-high of 10. This meant two Lady Crusaders finished with double-digits in digs for the first time this season.
