Meyers, Wohldmann to receive prematch honors Tuesday, as Volleyball celebrates 'Senior Day'

IRVING, Texas - Tuesday's 7 p.m. volleyball match vs. Southwestern Assemblies of God University will mark 'Senior Day' for a pair of accomplished Dallas Volleyball student-athletes, Emily Meyers and Theresa Wohldmann

The duo will be honored prematch at the Maher Athletic Center. Those unable to make the trip to Irving can view the ceremony and match via collegetvticket.com

The daughter of Ron and Margie Meyers, Emily attended and played volleyball for JSerra High School. She came to University of Dallas from San Juan Capistrano, Calif. 

Emily joined the Dallas volleyball team in 2008 and as a freshman earned a starting position at outside hitter. Emily had to return home the following year but returned to Dallas in 2010 and helped the Crusaders to a record breaking season. 

Last year Emily moved from outside-hitter to Libero and was an instant success, earning Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Defensive Player-of-the-Week honors. Emily wraps up her Dallas career as a four-year starter, on pace to join the exclusive 1,000 career dig club, a team captain and leader. 

Emily is an Education major who plans to enter the teaching profession after graduation.

Theresa Wohldmann


The daughter of Tom and Marla Wohldmann, Theresa hails from Florrisant, Mo., a community in the greater St Louis area. She was a star middle-blocker for Nerinx Hall and also played club ball for the CYC. 

Theresa came to Dallas and joined the Crusaders in 2009. She successfully made the move to outside hitter and quickly established herself as one of the Crusaders' top players. Theresa is a four-year starter, a three-time team captain and one of the most accomplished players in Dallas Volleyball history:

  • Dallas' single-season record for most kills: 479 (2010)
  • With 1,405 total kills Theresa is on pace to break Dallas' career kill record (1,415)
  • One of only two Dallas players to amass 400 kills and 400 digs in a single season
  • Three-time member of the 300 kill / 300 dig club
  • Member of the career 1,000 kills / 1,000 digs club 

Among the many awards Theresa has earned over her career:

  • Association of DIII Independents (AD3I) Player-of-the-Year
  • SCAC 2nd-Team All-Conference
  • Two-time AD3I and United States Collegiate Athletic Conference (USCAA) All-American
  • Six-time conference Player-of-the-Week
  • Five-time All-Tournament selection 

Theresa is a Biology major who will be among the first class enter the joint Dallas/Texas Women's University Nursing program.
