University of Dallas Volleyball reaps bounty of Postseason Awards

The University of Dallas concluded the 2010 season with a 26-11 record, the most wins and best winning percentage in UD Volleyball history. The historic season was truly the result of a team effort with every player contributing to the team success. Along the way several Crusaders were recognized for their outstanding play.

Senior captain Kelli Fuentes (Rowlett, Texas/Rowlett H.S.), a four-year starter at Libero, had another strong season anchoring the Dallas backcourt. Fuentes was an Association of Division-III (AD3I) Player-of-the-Week selection and made All-AD3I for the third consecutive year. Kelli wraps up her fabulous career with a total of 2438 digs while averaging 4.98 digs/set, both UD records that will be difficult to break.

Junior Danielle Fuchs (St. Charles, Mo./Duchesne H.S.) was outstanding on the right side, twice earning AD3I and USCAA Player-of-the-Week honors. Fuchs broke the UD single-season record averaging 3.71 kills/set. She totaled over 400 kills and 400 digs, a rare feat. In recognition of her fine play Danielle was selected 1st-team All-AD3I and selected to the United States Collegiate Athletic Association's (USCAA) Championship All-Tournament team.

Sophomore outside hitter Theresa Wohldmann (Florissant, Mo./Nerinx Hall H.S.) followed up her fine rookie year by having another outstanding season. Wohldmann set averaging 3.79 kills/set, setting a new UD single-season record. She, too, totaled over 400 kills and 400 digs this season. Theresa was AD3I co Player-of-the-Year, 1st-team All-AD3I, USCAA 1st-Team All-American and also a two-time AD3I and USCAA Player-of-the-Week.

Junior middle Liz Baska (Tonganoxie, Kan./Tonganoxie H.S.) was also recognized for her strong performance this year. Liz set personal bests hitting .319 and knocking down 2.29 kills/set. For her solid play this year she was selected 2nd-team All-AD3I, her second consecutive year earning All-AD3I honors.

Sophomore setter Amanda Kitten (Slaton, Texas/Lubbock-Cooper) had a strong year directing the Crusader offense. Amanda led AD3I with 10.50 assists/set, ranking her 27th in all of NCAA Division III. Amanda earned 2nd-team All-AD3I honors for the second year and was also a USCAA Academic All-American.
