AD3I announces All-Independent Volleyball selections
The Association of Division III Independents (AD3i) recently announced post season awards for the 2010 volleyball season, honoring those recognized as the best players in the AD3i. The University of Dallas volleyball team was well represented with five players selected to the AD3i All-Independent teams.
Theresa Wohldmann, sophomore outside hitter from Florissant, Mo., heads up the list for University of Dallas. Theresa, in only her second year of college ball, was voted co Player-of-the-Year by the AD3i coaches, sharing the honor with senior outside hitter Laura Brammeier from top-ranked Nebraska Wesleyan. The pair led the list of players selected 1st-team All-AD3i.
Danielle Fuchs, junior right-side hitter from St. Charles, Mo., joined the pair in being selected 1st-team All-AD3i. Junior middle Liz Baska (Tonganoxie, Kan.) and sophomore setter Amanda Kitten (Slaton, Texas) were selected to the All-AD3i 2nd-team.
Rounding out the list for University of Dallas was senior libero Kelli Fuentes (Rowlett, Texas), selected to the All-AD3i 3rd-team. It was the third straight year that Kelli was selected All-AD3i having earned 1st-team honors in 2008. For Theresa, Danielle and Liz it was the second straight year they were honored. For Amanda it was her first AD3i award.
NOTE: The AD3I (Association of Division III Independents) is an association that represents all of the independent NCAA Division III schools in the US. It is similar to a conference in that regard, albeit a very large conference. University of Dallas has been a long-time member of the AD3i although that will change as UD becomes a member of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) in 2011.
