Volleyball thwarts Dallas Christian College

On Thursday evening, the University of Dallas volleyball team (20-9) knocked off Dallas Christian College in three sets: 25-4, 25-6, 25-6.

Prior to the match, senior libero Kelli Fuentes (Rowlett, TX/Rowlett H.S.), UD's only senior, was warmly greeted by her parents and teammates, as it was "Senior Night" for UD volleyball.

The team, noticeably energized by the pre-game ceremony, made quick work of Dallas Christian.

Fuentes' stat line on the night, included one ace and eight digs. Other integral members for UD were freshman middle blocker Laura Yokell (Fort Worth, TX/Home School), who had six kills, three aces, two digs and two blocking assists; junior middle blocker Liz Baska (Tonganoxie, KS/Tonganoxie H.S.), who had six kills, one assist, four aces and one dig; while sophomore setter Amanda Kitten (Slaton, TX/Lubbock-Cooper), amassed 33 assists, three aces and three digs.

Not to be outdone in this team effort were: sophomore outside hitter Emily Meyers (San Jaun Capistrano, CA/JSerra H.S.), who recorded three kills and two aces; junior rightside hitter Danielle Fuchs (St. Charles, MO/Duchesne H.S.), who had four kills, two assists, four digs and two blocking assists; junior Rachel MacGillivray (Phoenix, AZ/Veritas Prep), who notched six kills; sophomore defensive specialist Emily Glick (Dallas, TX/North Hills Prep), who had four kills, three aces and nine digs; and last, but not least, sophomore outside hitter Theresa Wohldmann (Florissant, MO/Nerinx Hall H.S.), with seven kills and three digs.
