Volleyball staves off UT-Tyler

The University of Dallas Crusaders battled the UT-Tyler Patriots, emerging victorious, winning three of five games: 25-18, 25-22 and 15-13.

Sophomore outside hitter Theresa Wohldmann (Florissant, MO/Nerinx Hall H.S.) led the attack with 19 kills and one ace, junior rightside Danielle Fuchs (St. Charles, MO/Duchesne H.S.) had 16 kills, and junior middle blocker Liz Baska (Tonganoxie, KS/Tonganoxie H.S.) added 12. 

Sophomore setter Amanda Kitten had an impressive 48 assists throughout the match as well as 3 kills. Defensively, senior libero Kelli Fuentes (Rowlett, TX/Rowlett H.S) led the team 20 digs, followed by Wohldmann who had 17, while Fuchs and sophomore defensive specialist Emily Glick (Dallas, TX/Nerinx Hall H.S.) tied for 16. 

The Crusaders will be playing against Westminster College (MO), next, as they travel to St. Louis, MO, to participate in the Washington University Bears Classic, Oct. 8 and 9.

The team's tournament schedule is as follows: 

- Friday, Oct. 8:

UD vs. Westminster College (MO), 3:00 p.m. 

UD vs. Webster University (MO), 5:15 p.m. 

- Saturday, Oct. 9:

UD vs. Washington University (MO), 10:00 a.m.

UD vs. Mount Union College, 12:00 p.m.
