Women's Volleyball Dominant On Saturday

The University of Dallas women's volleyball team played two matches on Saturday, beating Arlington Baptist College and Rust College each in three sets. 

First on the agenda for the Crusaders was Arlington Baptist College at 10a.m. The sets, all in favor of UD, were as follows: 25-16, 25-10 and 25-9. 

Daniel Fuchs (St. Charles, MO/Duchesne H.S.) and Theresa Wohldmann (Florissant, MO/Nerinx Hall H.S.) were their typical selves, comprising 24 of 43 kills and 38 of 74 total attempts for Dallas. 

Emily Meyers (San Jaun Capistrano, CA/JSerra H.S.), Laura Yokell (Fort Worth, TX/Home School), and Rachel MacGillivray (Phoenix, AZ/Veritas Prep) were outstanding as well. Meyers, a sophomore outside hitter, had five kills on nine total attempts, to go with three digs. Yokell, a freshman middle blocker, recorded three kills on seven total attempts, and three blocking assists. Last, but not least, MacGillivray, a junior, had four kills on seven total attempts. 

After the convincing win, the team turned their attention toward Rust College for a 1p.m. start. Discarding Rust College in three sets, UD now sits at 15-3 on the season. The sets were as follows: 25-12, 25-9 and 25-12.

In this match, Wohldmann, Fuchs and Baska headlined. Wohldmann had 11 kills and five errors on 22 attempts, in addition to nine digs. Fuchs had nine kills and one error on 18 total attempts, plus three digs and two blocking assists. Baska netted seven kills and one error on 11 total attempts, with two digs and a blocking assist as well. 

UT-Tyler will be thinking upset when they travel to Maher Arena to play the Crusaders on Tuesday, October 5, at 7p.m.
