Five UD Volleyball Players Placed on AD3I All-Independent Teams

A month after the end of UD's volleyball successful season, and the rewards continue to stream in. Five of this year's players were named to the Association of Division III Independents All-Independent Teams after the programs first ever North Eastern Athletic Conference Championship and their first ever NCAA DIII Volleyball Tournament appearance.

Freshman outside hitter Theresa Wohldmann (Florissant, MO/Nerinx Hall H.S.) received the Rookie of the Year Award as well as being named the second team of the AD3I All-Independents Team. In 126 games (39 matches) Wohldmann recorded 346 kills in 990 attempts for a .148 attack percentage and a team leading 2.75 kills per game. She was second on the team with 394 digs while recording 41 service aces, 2 solo blocks and 55 block assists.

The only UD volleyball player named to the first team was sophomore middle blocker Liz Baska (Tonganoxie, KS/Tonganoxie H.S.). Throughout her 134 games (39 matches) she was third in her team with 239 kills for an average of 2.15 per game. In 667 total attacks she led the team with a .267 attack percentage while adding 34 service aces. She also ranked second on the team with 81 block assists and a total of 87 blocks.

Junior and middle blocker Celina Farrell (Corinth TX/Lake Dallas H.S.) was also awarded a second team slot while playing a pivotal role on the team and setting three school records in the process. She recorded an amazing 114 block assists to set the UD single season record of 79 that she set her freshman year, and in the process set the school career record in that category with 261 in her three year career. Her other record came in match on October 24 in Sherman, TX where she recorded 11 block assists to snatch the UD match record. She also totaled 239 kills in 705 total attacks for a percentage of .186 during her 134 games (39 matches), while adding 17 service aces and 10 solo blocks for total of 124.

Sophomore Danielle Fuchs (St. Charles, MO/Duchesne H.S.) was awarded Third Team and led the UD team with an attack percentage of .201. She had 340 kills and an average of 2.54 per game along with 40 service aces. She ranked third among her team mates with 287 digs and 71 total blocks.

The second girl being named Third Team of the AD3I All-Independent Teams was junior Kelli Fuentes (Rowlett, TX/Rowlett H.S.). Along with this she leads her team and holds the UD career record for digs at 550 and 4.37 per game. She played 126 games (37 matches) and recorded 28 service aces.
