Five UD Athletes Honored by USCAA

Five UD athletes were recognized by the United States Collegiate Athletic Association for their outstanding performances last week. Senior Greg Pivarunas (Elma, NY/St. Francis H.S.) was selected men's cross country runner of the week for the second straight week. The senior from the University of Dallas ran a 29:29 this week in the 8K, leading to a 3rd place finish at his teams invitational. His team also placed 3rd in the event. Senior Angela Cuba (Holliday, TX/Holliday H.S.) was chosen as the women's cross country runner of the week. The senior from the University of Dallas ran a 27:41 at her home invitational for a 3rd place finish to help her team place in third in the race. Pivarunas and Cuba are coached by Dore Madere.

Freshman forward Melissa Carpenter (Sugar Land, TX/Stephen F. Austin H.S.) was named the USCAA's women's soccer player of the week. She is a freshman forward at the University of Dallas. In two games, Melissa scored two goals and assisted on four others while the team went 2-0 during the week. Carpenter is coached by Ryan Reedy.

Danielle Fuchs, the sophomore rightside from The University of Dallas, was named the USCAA's Honorable Mention player of the week. Over the weekend Fuchs was named to the All-Tournament team at the Worthington Classic, highlighted by 50 kills. In 14 tournament games (4 matches), the St. Charles, MO native & Duchesne H.S grad had 50 kills, only 10 errors, & 105 attempts for a 3.57 kills per game & a .381 hitting percentage. She also had 7 block assists, 5 service aces, and 27 digs over the Crusaders 2-2 weekend. Danielle is coached by Rachel Hanson and assisted by Dr. Bob Howard.
