UD Volleyball Breaks Even in D.C., Fuchs Named to All-Tournament Team

After the long weekend in Washington D.C., UD defeated McDaniel College in straight games; 26-24, 25-17, 25-23, but unfortunately couldn't keep the winning streak alive, falling to Catholic University; 12-25, 13-25, 18-25.

In the first match of the day against McDaniel College, the Lady Crusaders were led by the efforts of sophomore middle blocker Liz Baska (Tonganoxie, KS/Tonganoxie H.S.) who led the team with 11 kills. Junior middle blocker Celina Farrell (Corinth, TX/Lake Dallas H.S.) added 10 kills and 3 service aces. Sophomore rightside Danielle Fuchs (St. Charles, MO/Duchesne H.S.) also continued her hot streak by posting 10 kills, 2 service aces, and 5 digs.

In their second match against Catholic University, the team was not quite as successful as they got swept in straight games, however Danielle Fuchs still contributed a solid game with a team high 8 kills and 5 digs as well. Junior libero Kelli Fuentes (Garland, TX/Rowlett H.S.) led the team with 11 digs in another solid effort.

Throughout the tournament Danielle Fuchs was a huge contributor for the Lady Crusaders as she was named to the Worthington Class All-Tournament Team. Her totals for the weekend include 50 kills, with only 10 errors, & 105 attempts for 3.57 kills per game & 381 hitting percentage. She also had 7 block assists, 5 service aces, and 27 digs over the weekend, in leading the University of Dallas to two more wins, bringing their record for the year to 11-13.
