AD3I Names November Player of the Month Awards

KANSAS CITY, MO - Kelli Fuentes, a junior libero for the University of Dallas volleyball team, and Sean Trott, a junior runner for the Lancaster Bible College men's cross country team, were named today as the recipients of the Association of Division III Independents Student-Athlete of the Month award for November 2009.

Fuentes played in all 20 games in the month of November, posting one kill, one assist, nine service aces and 62 digs as the starting libero. Her performance in the backcourt during the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) Tournament earned Fuentes recognition as the NEAC Tournament MVP, and a place on the NEAC All-Conference First Team. Fuentes' outstanding efforts assisted her team to win the NEAC tournament and advanced the Crusaders' first volleyball appearance in the NCAA Division III tournament.

Trott won the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) Division II National Championship November 14 at Cedarville University. He finished the 8K race in a time of 26:05, resulting in Trott's fifth win this season. Trott finished 27 seconds ahead of his closest competitor. He finished third at the same race in 2008.

The Association of Division III Independents consists of 14 Division III independent institutions that have joined together to recognize student-athletes at independent institutions, and to provide exempted postseason championship competition. The Association recognizes outstanding athletic achievements of its student-athletes on a weekly, monthly and annual basis. The Association provides statistical services for its members in seven sports. In addition, it also will announce All-Independent teams at the conclusion of nine sports this year.

All competing student-athletes from the Association's 14 members were eligible for the award. Each school was allowed to nominate its top performing male and female student-athletes from November. The award recipients were selected after a vote of the Association's Student-Athlete Recognition Committee.
