Crusaders Downed by SAGU

September 23, 2023

WAXAHACHIE, Texas - The University of Dallas women's soccer team lost their non-conference match against the Southwestern Assemblies of God 3-0 on Friday night.  They fall to 2-5 on the year.

The first half was even in terms of quality on the ball and chances created.  Though SAGU created the majority of the chances in the early minutes of the match, the Crusaders were the first to actually test the goalkeeper, with Kim Esparza forcing a save out of Zoe Bolt in the 23rd minute.  The Lions responded soon after, calling Ella Charles into action for her first save of the night.

Those were the only two shots on goal for the entire first half, until the Lions found the back of the net at the stroke of half time to take a 1-0 lead.

It was more of the same in the second half, as you could hardly separate the two sides, but the Lions made good on their chances, doubling their lead in the 59th minute, then making it 3-0 just two minutes later.  Though the Crusaders responded positively, they would fail to record a shot for the remainder of the match as SAGU cruised to a 3-0 win.
