Crusaders Fall to Southwestern

IRVING, Texas - The University of Dallas women's soccer team lost their conference match with Southwestern University 3-0 on Sunday.  They fall to 4-10-2 on the year and are 3-7-2 in conference play.

It looked like it might be another tense 0-0 draw after the first 25 minutes of the game.  Though Southwestern had the edge in possession and overall attack, the Crusaders had a heavy wind at their back and were easily in with a shout.  The deadlock was broken by the Pirates in the 27th minute, then doubled their lead five minutes later.  Suddenly, a very tight game became the Pirates to lose, with the Crusaders left chasing.

The Crusaders responded well following the second goal, with Nevaeh Coronado, Michelle Narvaez, and Claire Reed all getting off shots in a 90 second span, but none would find the back of the net.  Coronado had another chance in the 44th minute, a left-footed effort that whizzed inches past the top left corner, and Bridgette Alpar tested the keeper at the stroke of half time, but couldn't bury the chance.

Now running face first in the howling wind, the Crusaders struggled to create anything on offense in the second half.  The Pirates put the nail in the coffin with their third goal in the 56th minute, taking home the 3-0 win.
