Crusaders and Pirates Battle to a Draw

GEORGETOWN, Texas - The University of Dallas women's soccer team tied their conference matchup with Southwestern University 1-1 on Sunday.  They are now 3-4-1 on the year, and 2-0-1 in conference play.

The Pirates came out hot, letting loose a flurry of shots in the opening minutes. Most of which sailed wide of the goal, though Brianna Salinas was called into action less than two minutes into the game.  they would have their reward for all their early dominance with a goal in the 14th minute to take a 1-0 lead.

Dallas responded 10 minutes later, as Andrea Coppi and Claire Reed combined to level the game with Reed's second goal of the season.  Reed nearly had herself a brace a few minutes later, but her effort in the 33rd minute was saved by the keeper.  Southwestern rattled off five shots in the final three minutes, but would only hit the target once as Salinas tallied another save at the stroke of half time.

The Pirates were the aggressors for nearly the entire second half, but the Crusaders shored up their defense and wouldn't budge.  The match was fought to a stalemate from there, with the Crusaders defense standing firm.
