Women's Soccer Streak Snapped by #21 Trinity

SAN ANTONIO, Texas - The University of Dallas women's soccer team lost their conference matchup with Trinity University 1-0 today, their five game winning streak coming to an end.

In the midst of their best run of form since 2019, the Crusaders ran into arguably their toughest compeition in the Tigers, who are ranked #21 in the NCAA Division III National Rankings.  But the Crusaders held their own for much of the match, thakns in no small part to their staunch defending.  Their defending has been impeccable as of late, as the Crusaders five game winning streak was also a five game clean sheet streak, outscoring their opponents 16-0 in that stretch.

It took everything they had to withstand the onlsaught by Trinity, who dominated the match and outshot the Crusaders 27-3.  But less than half of those shots were even on target, as the Crusaders defense forced the Tigers to take their chances from low scoring areas.  Kaitlyn Vess was superb in goal as well, when called upon, making eight saves today.  The Tigers finally broke through with the only goal of the match in the 80th minute and were able to see out the 1-0 win.

The Crusaders are now 7-4 overall on the year and 2-1 in conference.
