Crusaders Dominate Ozarks in 1-0 Win

CLARKSVILLE, Ark. - The University of Dallas women's soccer team picked up their third win of the season against University of the Ozarks, defeating the Eagles 1-0 in regulation.  It was the fourth straight game decided by a single goal, and the fifth so far this season for the Crusaders.

It was a cagey match in the early goings, but the Crusaders inarguably had the edge in possession and quality chances.  At the first hydration break, they were outshooting the Eagles 7-1, but the Ozarks keeper was largely untroubled.  Coming off a heartbreaking 1-0 loss to Concordia-Texas, the determination was palpable in the Crusaders side to try and get the result.  Having been done in by early goals the last couple of matches, they were looking to flip the script and get on the board early themselves.

The Eagles best chance of the half came from a quick counter and a long shot from outside the box, but  Kaitlyn Vess was equal to the challenge with an excellent diving save to her right to keep the game scoreless.

As the game progressed, it only became clearer that the Crusaders were the better team, though they still had nothing to show deep into the second half.  But they finally got their reward at the 62 minute mark, with Britney Zapata netting the first goal of the game after a scramble in the box.

The Crusaders nearly added another in the dying minutes of the game as Michelle Narvaez found herself through onto goal inside the box, but Sydney Frazier came off her line well to deny the goal scoring chance.  The Eagles never truly threatened in the second half, as the Crusaders were able to cruise home with the 1-0 win.
