Crusaders Topped by Trinity in SCAC Championship on Sunday

IRVING, Texas - The University of Dallas women's soccer team lost to Trinity University 4-0 in the Championship of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) tournament on Sunday. Trinity scored a pair of goals within the first six minutes and cruised to victory.

UD's defense was constantly under attack, barely allowing the offense to get anything going the whole game. Dallas had just two shots in the game, one by Caitlyn Kline (Fort Smith, Ark.) and one on goal by Maddie Rodriguez (Houston, Texas). Rodriguez was also issued the sole yellow card of the game in the 20th minute.

Macey Henderson (San Antonio, Texas) recorded 14 saves in the game, the second most all season. Henderson had 16 saves in UD's game against Trinity back in March.

Trinity's tournament record for goals scored ended at 17, and Trinity also took a total of 112 shots over the course of all three games.

The SCAC tournament is the end of the line for soccer this year. With the loss, Dallas ends the year at 6-3. UD's .667 winning percentage is the program's best since 2005 when the team went 13-3 and had a winning percentage of .813. This was the second time Dallas reached the championship match, with the other in 2012. The Crusaders are 0-4 in conference tournament games against Trinity, which includes both SCAC Title Game appearances for UD.
