The University of Dallas women's soccer team won on the road on Thursday against Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) opponent the Celts of the University of St. Thomas.Dallas shutout St. Thomas for a 1-0 win with Alyssa Mencacci (League City, Texas) scoring the only goal of the game in the 65th minute to end their road schedule undefeated at 3-0.
Dallas led in both shots and shots on goal, 13-11 and 7-2, over the Celts.The Crusaders also held the advantage in corner kicks, 5-2.
UD's defense held strong only allowing the two shots on goal by St. Thomas, which were both saved by goalkeeper Macey Henderson (San Antonio, Texas) for her third clean sheet of the season.
Celts' goalkeeper Sofie Gomez saved the first five shots by Dallas before Mencacci finally broke through in the 65th minute.
Avery Seaman (Bedford, Texas) was credited with the assist on Mencacci's goal for the first assist of her career.
Dallas with the win improves to 4-2-0 (4-2-0), and with the loss St. Thomas drops to 1-3-0 (1-4-0). UD comes home to play their final regular season game on Saturday, April 10 against Southwestern University. Game time will be at 4:00 p.m. CST.
