Bulldogs Outlast UD Women's Soccer

IRVING, Texas - The University of Dallas women's soccer team was defeated by Texas Lutheran University on Sunday, 3-2.  The deciding goal was scored by Nani Sanchez in the 80th minute from 25 yards out.

Dallas controlled the ball well during a mostly quiet 1st half.  UD finally broke through on a goal by freshman Kaitlyn Cline (Ft. Smith, Ark.) in the 34th minute off a free kick by Courtney Bokanyi (Montgomery, Texas).

In the 2nd half, TLU equalized in the 59th minute by Samantha Martinez.  UD answered back immediately in the 60th minute on a goal by Avery Seaman (Bedford, Texas).  TLU began to pick up their pace on offense, which lead to a corner kick and a set piece goal in the 74th minute.  Mariela Candelario found Kelly Wolfe in the box who connected for a goal to tie the game 2-2.  TLU finally took their first lead of the game in the 80th minute on the long goal by Sanchez and held on for the victory.

Despite the loss, Dallas outshot TLU in both halves 6-5 and 8-5 for a total of 14-10.

Seaman led all players with five shots with four of them on goal, and her goal was her second of the season.

With the loss UD drop to 1-1-0 (1-1-0) and with the win TLU improves to 1-2-0 (1-1-0).  The Crusades continue the season on Saturday, March 13 at Centenary College of Louisiana.  Kickoff will be at 3:30 p.m. CST.
