UD Women's Soccer Hits 5th Win in a Row; 1-0 Shutout over SAGU

IRVING, Texas – The University of Dallas women's soccer team continued its perfect month of October with its season-long, five-game winning streak by defeating Southwestern Assemblies of God University on Tuesday night. Makayla Snow (North Richland Hills, Texas) tallied her second goal of the season and lone scoring result of the match in the 50th minute.

Dallas (8-4-1) launched 22 shots and had 10 on goal for the game. Despite holding a 12-1 advantage in shots through the first 45 minutes, things remained scoreless. The Crusaders kept the pressure on their offensive third most of the match. Snow from the top-right side of the box was able to lift a high floater that went out of the reach of the SAGU goalkeeper and into the upper right part of the net.

Olivia Severson (La Crosse, Wis.) picked up a save, as the Lions (2-14) only took three shots all match. Two were from Natalia Torres. The Crusaders defense has now gone 455:17 minutes without a goal surrendered.

Four different Crusaders had at least three shots led by Alyssa Mencacci (League City, Texas) with seven. Monica O'Donnell (Phoenix, Ariz.) added four, while Izzy Barajas (Bryan, Texas) and Elisa Duran (Pomona, Calif.) offered three apiece. 19 players saw action for the Crusaders in the contest.

The last five-game winning streak for UD was the start of 2012 season. The seven team shutouts match 2014's total as the most recent season for the Crusaders to post at least that many.
