No. 15 Trinity Too Much for Crusaders in Sunday's Road Setback

SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The University of Dallas women's soccer team concluded a three-game road stretch with a 7-0 setback at No. 15 Trinity University. The Crusaders (3-7-2, 2-5-1 SCAC) competed early with the lone unbeaten team in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) play, but Trinity (12-1-1, 11-0 SCAC) pulled away with four goals in a 10-minute span late in the first half.

Katie Peth scored the go-ahead goal in the 11^th minute on an assist by Kelsey Kohler. Prior to that early scoring result, the Tigers had been whistled for two offsides, and had the first three shots on goal saved by Olivia Severson (La Crosse, Wis.).

Kasaundra Eason (Henderson, Nev.) put up the first UD shot in the 16^th minute that was over the net. Mariana Burciaga (Forney, Texas) added a shot of her own on a header wide in the 22^nd minute. Those were the road team's lone chances at an equalizer in an even match at that juncture.

There were 10 shots for Trinity by the time Halleanne Dure connected on a goal at the 25:11 minute mark. Dallas' defense was unable to slow the nationally ranked opponent, as a trio of additional goals lifted the conference leaders to a 5-0 halftime edge. Alex Waleh (30:24), Chelsea Cole (34:48), and Madison Horner (35:45) provided the netters in that span.

Trinity added two more goals in the second stanza to seal the final result. The Crusaders were outshot 38-4 and edged 7-1 in corner kicks.

Severson and Natalie Kutac (Bulverde, Texas) each worked a half in the goal for Dallas and combined for 10 saves with six and four, respectively.

Dallas ends its home portion of the 2018 campaign with three contests over the next week. Things start on Tuesday with Centenary College. Kickoff is slated for around 7 p.m. following the men's match.
